- Summary:
- Brown apothecary jar containing cerous carbonate (carbolic acid) used in the pharmacy of a mental health hospital in Victoria, Australia, circa 1950. Made: British Drug Houses Ltd. It is used as a low grade disinfectant.
- Description:
- Brown glass apothecary's jar has round, flat base, straight sides, curved shoulder and fairly broad, short neck (H3.5 x 06cm), with black tin screw-on lid. Has yellow and brown label - B.D.H. Cerous Carbonate - on side. Adhesive tape has been placed over label. There are traces of wax (sealer?) around top of jar. Contains only a dusting of white powder.
